If you are on this webpage you probably already know the basics of TTM Collecting. If not here is how I do it.
1. First and foremost you need good addresses. Most of my successes have come from Spring Training and home addresses. I did get a couple from Minor League and Major League Stadiums. I personally use an address book I purchased from www.sportsaddresslists.com and found most addresses to be accurate. Once you purchase the book they send updates as addresses change.
2. Enclose a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope so your cards can be returned.
3. Enclose a letter asking them to sign your cards. Remember common courtesy, use please and thank you. I choose to write handwritten notes so it is more personal. I have been told it helps since a digital form is easy to keep the same and not be as personalized. I always add in that it is for my collection, many do not like signing if they feel you are looking to profit from it.
4. Do not send cards you are afraid to lose. I send mostly commons or duplicates unless it is someone who charges a fee to sign.
5. Keep a log of all send outs with the address you sent to and the date. Most collectors like to know how long a certain player took to return the cards.
6. Share your successes so others can send to that player.
I hope this helps. If you have other tips, let us know.
